Preserving the heritage Cotswold breed standards for over 140 years

2025 USA Cotswold Census

Thank you in advance for taking this USA 2025 Cotswold Census. The American Cotswold Record Association (ACRA) 2025 Board goals include a census to see how many Cotswold sheep are out and about in the US. We will share the results with the Livestock Conservancy as well as the CBA board. We will post the results in our spring newsletter and on our website at www.cotswoldacra.com. We thank the Livestock Conservancy for their support and suggestions of which questions to ask. We hope the results will help the Cotswold breed in the US. If you know of others who raise Cotswold sheep, please pass on this census.

Please answer the questions as best as you are able. There are only 10 questions. We are looking for both registered or unregistered Cotswold sheep. If a sheep has not been registered, only count the sheep as a Cotswold if you know both the dam and the sire lineage were at some point from registered Cotswold sheep and you know they have not been crossed with another breed of sheep. If you are not positive, do not count.

The Livestock Conservancy currently has Cotswold on the Threatened list. Breed associations are an essential part of rare breed conservation and a resource for education and connecting with other breeders. The ACRA board would like to ensure we are not inching towards “critical.” Together we can turn this around but not without good data. We would also encourage joining a breed association. The costs to join a breed association and register sheep are low!

*** Only take this census once. We will be emailing it to those emails we have found to raise Cotswolds as well as posting links on social media pages. If you know of others, please share for us. A link to this form will also be posted on our website. If you have questions, please contact Beth Ivankovic at info@cotswoldacra.com.
